Error Code

LG Dishwasher OE Error Code

Error code OE
Appliance Dishwasher
Quick answer

LG dishwasher OE means the tub is not fully drained. Filter and drain hose steps from the manual.

Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so OE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

Outlet error: the tub is not fully drained.

OE is the outlet error on an LG dishwasher. The code appears when the tub is not fully drained. The manual names two causes: residue clogging the filter, and a water outlet hose that is pressed or bent. Codes can differ depending on the product model.

Clean the filter

A filter clogged with residue keeps water from draining properly. The manual advises cleaning it once every one or two weeks.

  1. Remove the lower dish rack.
  2. Find the filter on the base. Turn the handle counter-clockwise and pull upwards to take the filter out.
  3. Separate the inner filter and the stainless steel filter, and wash both in running water.
  4. Put the two parts back together, set them in place and turn the handle clockwise until you hear a click.

Wait 30 minutes after the dishwasher has stopped before cleaning the filter. The tub is hot after operation, and touching it may cause burn injuries.

Check the drain hose

Close the shut-off valve first, then look for pressed or kinked sections of the drain hose and straighten them. If the unit was installed recently, contact the installation technician. The end of the hose that connects to the dishwasher should be at least 30 cm above the floor. Below that height, sewer gas smells may come up and sewage water may flow into the sink.

Water left after a cycle

Standing water can mean the dishwasher switched off mid-wash because of a power outage or a tripped circuit breaker. Leftover water drains once the dishwasher runs, so power it on and restart the wash cycle.

Related codes

  • nE is the Vario pump issue with the impeller.
  • PF shows that power was interrupted and the cycle stopped; it is not a fault.
  • FE is leakage or overfilling.
