Error codetE
ApplianceWasher
Quick answer
The tE code points to a temperature sensor problem. Front-load and top-load washers have slightly different steps.
Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so tE may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
Plain language
What this code means
tE is a temperature sensor error on LG washers.
When tE appears on the display of an LG washer, the machine is reporting a temperature sensor problem. The wording differs a little between front-load washers (including WashTower) and top-load washers, so each is covered below.
tE on front-load washers and WashTower
On these models tE is a heating or water temperature sensor error, usually caused by a faulty thermistor. The LG help library gives these steps:
Unplug the washer for 10 seconds.
Plug it back in and press the power button. Press the spin speed button until no spin is highlighted.
Once the washer has drained, restart the wash cycle.
If tE returns, close the water taps and unplug the washer.
tE on top-load washers
Here the code means a tub temperature sensor error: a fault in the sensor that measures the water temperature inside the drum, from a contact problem or a failed sensor. It can also appear if very hot water was poured into the drum. In that case unplug the power cord, let the water cool, then reconnect the cord. If the code stays, the washer needs a technician’s inspection.
Related LG washer codes
SE is a general sensor error, so it is easy to mix up with tE.
PE is a water level sensor fault, another sensor-type code.
vS is a vibration sensor issue, shown on some of the same models.
