LG Dryer drn Error Code

On an LG WashTower dryer, the dryer can stop during operation and show drn, also written drn / OE. The guide gives two causes: the drain hose is pressed or installed too high, or the drain hose froze after prolonged cold weather.

Check the drain hose

Look at the drain hose of the dryer, the upper unit, for clogs, twists or kinks. Straighten and unclog it so water drains properly. If the hose is hard to reach because it sits at the rear of the unit, request service for help.

Thawing a frozen dryer

1. Power off the unit and remove all laundry from the drum.
2. Remove the lint filter and pour less than 1 liter of hot water (below 60 °C) into the empty compartment.
3. Reinsert the lint filter and wait about half an hour for the ice to melt.
4. Power on and press the Start/Pause button.

If OE, Empty water container or drn no longer show, the thaw worked. Water that is too hot may damage the unit, and too much may overflow onto the floor. Use a ladder or a stable chair carefully. You can also pour water into the water container compartment after removing the container; if that is difficult or the compartment is missing, use the empty lint filter compartment.

If the codes continue, power off, turn the dryer back on and run it for 10 minutes. Repeat this 3 to 5 times. If drn persists, the drain pump may be the problem. A drainage issue from a malfunctioning drain pump is difficult to resolve through basic troubleshooting, so request service.
